wellbeing at work

We are committed to helping our people feel their best – physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially — both in and out of the workplace. From wellbeing and recognition to diversity, development, and opportunity, Hastings Hotels is more than a workplace, it is a community where people are empowered to bring their best selves to work each day.

We are proud to provide the structure, support, and inspiration for people to grow, and to do so in an environment defined by excellence, kindness, and inclusion. We invite you to join us, and become part of a team that is building something lasting, meaningful, and uniquely rewarding.

Supporting Mental Health

At Hastings Hotels

Through our partnership with Aware NI, one of Northern Ireland’s leading mental health charities, we’ve raised over £22,000 to support local services and awareness. Our teams benefit from tailored initiatives, including Mood Matters mental health workshops, access to over 35 trained Mental Health First Aiders across our hotels, and a confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) via Spectrum Life. This 24/7 support is also available to partners and dependents aged 16–24.

We also offer a digital Wellbeing Hub filled with guided meditations, fitness and nutrition plans, and courses focused on sleep, stress, and anxiety management. We believe that by offering resources tailored to a wide range of needs, we can help every team member feel more supported and in control of their wellbeing.

Promoting Physical Health

At Hastings Hotels

Each year, we host an Annual Wellbeing Day in collaboration with Kingsbridge Private Healthcare, offering mini health checks, flu vaccinations, and health talks from leading professionals. Beyond the event, staff are encouraged to take part in physical and social activities, such as the Belfast Marathon, company tag rugby teams, running groups, and book clubs.

Managers benefit from exclusive access to the Kingsbridge Diamond Club, which provides discounted private healthcare, GP referrals, and access to specialist medical advice — offering peace of mind and support when it matters most.

Supporting Financial Wellbeing

At Hastings Hotels

We know that financial confidence plays a vital role in overall wellbeing. That’s why we offer pension education webinars and financial coaching to help employees plan ahead and make informed choices.

Our partnership with Wagestream provides early access to earned pay, budgeting tools, and financial education — giving people more control over their finances day to day. We also run the Hastings Savers Campaign, which rewards those who commit to saving regularly with entry into monthly prize draws.

In addition, our commitment as a Workplace Financial Wellbeing Champion includes partnership with Money Helper, offering practical tools and impartial guidance for employees at all stages of life

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

At Hastings Hotels

All employees receive training in Diversity, Inclusion & Equity, Disability Awareness, Modern Slavery Awareness, Safeguarding Young Workers, and Workplace Sexual Harassment. These sessions are designed not only to inform but to empower each individual to contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.

We are proud to have been named the winner of the Business Eye Diversity Award in 2025 — recognition of the tangible steps we’ve taken to build an inclusive culture and workforce.

Our teams include employees aged 16 to 66+, representing 29 nationalities, and achieving a balanced 50/50 gender split across roles. We offer flexible contracts designed to meet the needs of people at all life stages and from all backgrounds — because we believe that diversity drives innovation and understanding.

Through partnerships with the King’s Trust, Usel, Access Employment, and local schools, we actively create employment opportunities for young people not in education or training, individuals with learning difficulties, and other underrepresented groups. These pathways are more than programmes — they are invitations to grow and belong.

Employee Voice & Culture

At Hastings Hotels

We believe that inclusion begins with listening. That’s why we host biannual town halls, creating space for dialogue between employees and leadership, and publish our Live Well Work Well newsletter each month to share wellbeing tips, employee stories, and organisational updates.

In 2025, we introduced a transformative approach to workplace culture through the creation of the Live Well Work Well Network. Replacing our traditional Health and Wellbeing Committee, this inclusive structure is designed to drive meaningful progress across four interconnected pillars: Live Well, Work Well, Connect Well and Sustain Well.

Each pillar is championed by a member of the Live Well Work Well Advisory Board, who works alongside their peers to turn ideas into action and ensure the network evolves with the needs of our people.
