The world-famous Ulster Rally returns to Derry-Londonderry this August for a weekend of great Rally action. This year the Rally welcomes contenders from the FIA European Rally Trophym the MSA Prestone British Rally Championship and the Clonakility Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Rally Championship. Rally stages feature the full breadth of Counties Londonderry and Tyrone with two regroups, one in Guild Hall Square on Friday 18th August and the other in Strabane Town Centre on Saturday 19th
The Maiden City Festival celebrations will return to Derry-Londonderry. Visitors can look forward to a packed programme of theatre, live music, dance, visual arts, talks and tours. Free family events include siege tales with a re-enactment of stories and tales from the Siege performed daily by local actors, colourful displays of piping, drumming and highland dancing.
The 15th City of Derry Guitar Festival will bring world class guitarists for a weekend of workshops, masterclasses and concerts. This year the festival will feature an all-female classical guitar lineup and the festival which is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and accessibility has something to offer to all guitar lovers.
The largest event in this year’s PGA calendar the Walled City of Derry Pro Am tournament will take place over two courses, City of Derry Golf Club and Foyle International Gold Centre providing a larger number of competitors the opportunity to put their skills to the test while also promoting the local golf offering to a wide range of international visitors.
On the first Saturday of each month, the Guildhall Square will welcome the very best of artisan traders, offering visitors a friendly shopping experience with a wide selection of speciality foods and handmade crafted products. The market opens from 11am to 4pm with free admission.
The Millennium Forum is Derry-Londonderry’s premier arts venue. The 1000-seat auditorium will welcome a number of productions and performer this Summer. Musical fans can enjoy West Side Story which runs from 27 – 29 July, while Opera lovers are in for a treat as Foyle Opera present Carmen with a full chorus of local singers from 4 – 5 August. One of Ireland’s most iconic groups, The Wolfe Tones return to the Millennium on 12th August while the Ulster Youth Orchestra host their annual summer showcase conducted by Michael Seal at Guildhall on Friday 18th August.
